Conflicts are an inevitable part of the preschool day. What’s happening developmentally that makes preschoolers prone to conflict? And what can you do to help children stay calm enough to engage in meaningful conflict resolution? Come learn new strategies. Limit: eight people. $50.
Saturday, September 14th, 2019 10 am -11:30 am Facilitating Conflict Resolution in K-3rd Grades
Conflicts don’t disappear in the early elementary school years. Children are especially prone to conflicts during the unstructured times of lunch, recess, and choice time. Come learn what’s happening developmentally that makes children forget the rules you’ve taught them and discover new strategies. Limit: eight people. $50.
Tuesday, September 17th, 2019 6 pm – 8 pm Talking to Parents about Challenging Topics (Pre-K through 3rd)
Challenges with children and families pop up during the school year, yet teacher training mainly focus on development and child-centered education. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to discuss delicate topics with parents in a way that acknowledges parents’ experiences while helping you maintain boundaries. Limit: eight people. $60
Thursday, September 19th, 2019 6 pm – 8 pm Managing Aggressive Behavior in the Preschool Classroom
Some children have difficulty controlling aggressive impulses. This can be trying for even the most experienced and patient preschool teachers. Learn new techniques for helping children become more regulated and to recover more quickly from an aggressive outburst. Self-care strategies will also be discussed. Limit: eight people. $60
Saturday, September 21st, 2019 9:30 am – 12:30 pm Introduction to D.I.R. and Floortime
Floortime is a technique that teachers and other professionals can use to help children with a range of challenges become more regulated, engaged, and able to join in spontaneous back-and-forth pleasurable interactions. This workshop will introduce you to the guiding principles of this intervention. Learn how to begin using this approach at school. Open to all professionals working with young children. Trauma can have a profound impact on young children and their behaviors at school. But what exactly is trauma? What can you do when a child becomes worrisome, perplexing, or difficult to manage? Gain a new understanding of flight-flight-freeze behaviors and what you can do. Limit: eight people. $60
Thursday, September 26th, 2019 6 pm – 7:30 pm Work-Life Balance: Your Frame of Mind Matters!
How you think about your relationships with children and families influences your work-life balance. This workshop will give you a new way of looking at the possibilities and limits of your work, with the goal of helping you leave work at work. Limit: eight people. $50.
